From review by Al Lawrence in November 2010 issue of Chess Life magazine - "...Khmelnitsky's third book in his popular chess exam series is entertaining and involving, and the skill with which he chooses positions and explains them should net you wins and deeper appreciation of the game" Read the full review here:

From IM Greg Shahade: In all, reading this book and following the scoring system will make your chess studying experience much more fun than usual! More

From IM John Donaldson: According to the noted chess historian Edward Winter there are over 90 books written on Bobby Fischer. They cover his career from all angles - some emphasizing the biographical others sticking to the games he played - so the prospects of writing something new original might seem slim, but International Master Igor Khmelnitsky has succeeded with his new book You vs. Bobby Fischer. ... Review on ChessCafe.com by Steve Goldberg: Chess Exam: Matches Against Chess Legends, You vs. Bobby Fischer is quite an informative and entertaining book. Khmelnitsky has gone to great lengths to identify challenging positions from Fischer's games and readers are likely to enjoy the opportunity to review the relevant portions of these games. The various statistical analyses are icing on the cake to rating-crazed chess fans. Full Review

Review by Matt Helfst at Chess.com: Overall a great piece of work by IM Igor Khmelnitsky here, which I highly recommend for anyone whose aim is to get a detailed assessment of their chess game to know where they stand and find out their strengths and weaknesses.  Full Review Review by IM Jean Hebert (in French) Full Review
From GM Alex Fishbein: ...Khmelnitsky's explanations are as lucid as the positional player's thinking process should be. If you would like to improve your decision-making skills in chess, read this book. More

2/08: another great review of my Chess Exam and Training Guide Tactics. This one is by Michael Jeffreys for Chessville.com. "... The thing that makes his books so good, as I mentioned above, is his eye for great material.  All of the positions he selects are interesting and usually the obvious try is not the best.  Also, he mixes up his problems so that each turn of the page brings a new adventure, i.e. they are not in any type of thematic order like most puzzle books." Review by former US Champion GM Joel Benjamin in December '07 Chess Life and US Chess Online - "...With innovative methodology Chess Exam and Training Guide: Tactics, aspires to rise a cut above other books in this genre...I love the creative and novel approach to quizzing, but the greatest strength of the book is the selection of positions. The variations of themes is impressive... The selections of positions and posing of questions is skillfully done that every page is a learning experience..." Read the entire review here.

"...will quickly and accurately test your combinational ability, positional judgment and endgame expertise... Instructive and Entertaining!" - Alex Yermolinsky, grandmaster, former US Champion and Olympic team member

"I would like to nominate Igor Khmelnitskys book, Chess Exam and Training Guide to be 2004 Chess Book of the Year on three counts: (1) As a reader of chess literature I found the book thoroughly entertaining and instructive. (2) As a chess trainer I found the material in it and the methods used extremely useful for a wide range of students. (3) As a retailer it was the biggest selling book we had in 2004 by a large margin, even outselling the entire Predecessors series by Kasparov."- Chris Depasquale, www.chessworld.com.au

"My main approach when I start working with my students - improving their tactical skills. You may play 30 good moves , then one slip and the game is over. Indeed the standard puzzle books are all combines well known examples copy from one source to another. What I found in your book - many new and quite good examples for reaching the main target - showing readers the way of improving the tactical vision and calculation." GM Boris Alterman (Israel)

The Book is fantastic. I own 100s of chess books and this def. makes the top 10. Maybe top for problem books. I finished the book. It predicted my rating to within about 30 points and I learned that I am much better at strategy than I had realized but much worse at calculation and tactics than I thought. So now Im working my weaknesses and researching strategic openings.- Brian Karen (1800-2200), Admin @ Internet Chess Club (ICC)

What impressed me the most and is different from other quiz type books is that each problem is looked at twice--once with White and the other with Black to move or with a minor piece adjustment. This technique really helps understand the full use of all pieces on the board and I found very helpful for increasing my chess vision - Andy Ansel (USA)
